Aim
The Security Benevolent Fund Advisory Committee’s primary aim is to ensure that the objective of the Security Benevolent Fund is delivered. This will be achieved by providing welfare, legal, medical and health-related guidance and support for security professionals.
Legal Status
The Security Benevolent Fund Advisory Committee is a sub-committee of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals Charitable Trust.
The Committee has no authority to distribute funds other than that agreed by the Board of Trustees. It can make funding recommendations to the Trustees and then will be responsible for ensuring that any decision by the Trustees is acted upon.
The Board of Trustees have agreed that Trustees who sit on the Advisory Committee may by a majority decision approve funding for a single individual up to the sum of £500 in any one year.
Chairmanship
The Chairman of the Committee must be a Trustee of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals Charitable Trust.
Meetings
The Committee will meet at least twice a year and when the chairman considers it necessary. The meetings will normally be held 7 – 14 days prior to the meeting of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals Charitable Trust. There will be a quorum when at least four members are present of which, at least two must be Trustees.

Trustees on the Committee will be appointed by the Board of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals Charitable Trust. The Advisory Committee Chairman may, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees, second other members to the Committee who are able to make a significant contribution to achieving the Committee’s purpose.
Purpose
1 To gain feedback from the non Trustees with the view of monitoring the progress of The Security Benevolent Fund and implementing measures to improve and develop it.
2 To extend the services offered to the whole of the Security Profession.
3 To market The Security Benevolent Fund to the general populace of the security profession.
4 To consider and agree fund raising initiatives.
5 To consider applications for welfare assistance and rehabilitation and therapeutic treatment and make recommendations to the Trustees for funding in excess of £500.00.
6 To ensure on behalf of the Trustees that there are financial controls in place, monitor costs and review expenditure.
7 To report quarterly to the Trustees on the financial status of the ring fenced Security Benevolent Fund and recommend expenditure.
